My everyday scandi...not any more...
This knife is built from a Helle Tollekniv blade. High carbon steel hardened to 62Rc laminated between mild steel. Timbers are Mallee burl and Salmon Gum (left over timbers from a bow built for a friend). Brass and black vulcanised fibre are used for the bolster and highlights.
I carried this scandi every day for quite some time and it has proven its strength, edge retention and handle design. I managed to bend the blade removing tinder fungus from a poplar tree. The laminated blade means that it was easier to bend by accident, however it was easy to straighten the blade with no damage to the cutting edge.
This knife has been given to another Steve who stopped by for a visit. It seemed that he would make better use of it than I. I had a great night Steve. I wish you could have stayed longer, I think we would have had much in common. Stay in touch.

95mm Red Mallee Burl
You can have a beautiful knife as your everyday user! The Red Mallee Burl that has been used as the main handle timber is extreemly tough and resilient to damage. It is complimented here with Buffalo horn and brass. The swirling interlocking grain makes it virtually impossible to split this timber allowing full muscle to be applied to your work without fear of breakage. The tang on this and all my knives extend at least 3/4 into the handle. SOLD
An antler bolster ready to carve
Another 95mm polar blade. I love these blades. They are thick and sturdy but due to the full scandi grind are capable of making the finer cuts needed for campsite crafting.
This has an antler bolster ready for carving. Why not carve it with images or icons from the trips you take?

105mm Scandi
This is a beautiful knife built as part of a combination set with a longbow. The timbers in the handle are Red Ironbark and Brushbox with black spacer and a brass bolster. The blade is 105mm. The sheath is a simple, unembellished functional partner to this knife and incorporates a loop for a firesteel. A wooden liner was added to the sheath for longevitity. Sometimes you get the feeling with a customer that the knife is going to remain in the family for decades, and a wooden sheath liner helps wear longer.
Carved and stained antler...
This is a small knife with a polar 70mm blade. The bolster is fallow deer antler that has been carved and stained with pigmented ink. The timber is Jarrah. It is a good size for a child and will probably go to my daughter or son one day unless someone wants to buy it first.
...well, as it turned out there was another kid that needed it more, so this one is gone too.

Bull Oak...
Built around a 90mm Polar blade. I love the shape of these blades. They have a very fine point that is great for detail carving. I have dropped the point on this blade slightly just for fun. The barreled handle is of brass and Bull Oak (Casuarina littorialis). The tang of the blade extends fully through the handle and is peined through the brass butt cap. The sheath for this knife has a wooden liner which prevents any wear on the leather as the blade is inserted and withdrawn. SOLD
Flamed Osage Orange...
A barreled shape handle of Osage Orange with a black spacer for interest. I flamed the timber which highlighted the grain by darkening the softer spring growth. Blade is a Lauri 95. Bolster is of aluminium. SOLD
A small working knife...
Built from a Karesundo 75mm blade, this knife took a razor edge with little effort. Timbers are Brush box and Jarrah with brass for the bolster. SOLD
